Motorola Introduces MOTOROKR U9 in India

Motorola launched MOTOROKR U9 in India. ROKR U9 is made seamless, small and light weight, and has been designed to fit in pocket or hand.

ROKR U9 comes with an elegant form factor, Stereo Bluetooth 4, CrystalTalk Technology, external touch sensitive music controls and a unique external display that reveals floating, animated screensavers that appear on the external display.

It enables easy transition from phone to music and back again, and also allows one-touch access to library and pauses music as calls come through.

Its integrated music player supports multiple audio files2: Windows WMAv10 plus Janus DRM, MP3, AAC, AAC+, AAC+ enhanced. It has a USB 2.0 connection for speedy transfers and data access.

Up to 25MB of on-board user memory and an optional microSD memory card enables storage of up to 4GB of music, pictures and other media on an optional microSD memory card. Its Innovative CrystalTalk technology offers better call clarity.

The Stereo Bluetooth wireless technology enables users to enjoy a wireless mobile stereo experience4. Advanced “speaker independent” voice recognition dialing and talking phone features take “hands free” to the next level.

The phone also features a 2.0 megapixel camera with 8x zoom, multi-shot feature, video capture and playback delivers quality, printable5 and sharable images. Other capabilities include messaging via MMS1, SMS, Push Email1.

The phone supports Motorola Setup1, Backup1 and Text1 that allow easy setup of the device for Internet browsing, phonebook and text message backup over the air on to secure servers as a free service to users.

Its Music ID1 feature allows users to easily identify any song. Music ID1 is a Song Identification service that enables a user to identify the artist and album information of songs being played in the immediate surroundings. The user simply captures the music being played on the handset, the application then sends this information to a server over GPRS to match the song with its existing library and transmits relevant information back to the user.

The external display has touch sensitive digital keys that let users control their music player from the outside.

உலகின் மிகப் பெரும் சொகுசுக் கப்பல்களில் ஒன்று டைட்டானிக். 1912ம் ஆண்டு ஏப்ரல் 14ம் தேதி இரவில் அது கடலில் சென்று கொண்டிருந்தபோது பெரும் பனிப்பாறை மீது மோதியது. இதில் கப்பல் உடைந்து, கடல் நீர் உள்ளே புகுந்து அதில் இருந்த 1,500 பேரும் ஜல சமாதியானார்கள்.

இந்த சம்பவம் நடந்து 96 ஆண்டுகள் விட்டது. இதுகுறித்து படமும் வந்து விட்டது. டைட்டானிக் கப்பல் மூழ்கியது குறித்து நீண்ட காலமாகவே பல்வேறு ஆய்வுகள் நடந்து வருகின்றன. அப்படிப்பட்ட ஒரு லேட்டஸ்ட் ஆய்வில், கப்பலில் பொருத்தப்பட்டிருந்த ரிவிட்டுகள் சரியில்லாததால்தான் கப்பல் உடைந்ததற்கு முக்கிய காரணம் எனத் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இதுகுறித்து அமெரிக்காவைச் சேர்ந்த விஞ்ஞானிகள் குழு ஒன்று ஆய்வு மேற்கொண்டு அதன் முடிவுகளை வெளியிட்டுள்ளது.

ஒவ்வொரு பெரிய கப்பலும் கட்டப்படும்போது குறைந்தது 30 லட்சம் ரிவிட்டுகள் தேவைப்படும். இதுதான் கப்பலின் பலத்தை உறுதி செய்கிறது.

டைட்டானிக் கப்பலைக் கட்டியவர்கள், தரமான ரிவிட்டுகள் கிடைக்காமல் பல காலமாக அவதிப்பட்டு வந்துள்ளனர். மேலும் ரிவிட்டுகளை சரியாக பொருத்தும் நிபுணர்களும் அவர்களுக்குக் கிடைக்கவில்லை. இதனால்தான் தரமற்ற ரிவிட்டுக்களை வைத்து கப்பலைக் கட்டியுள்ளனர். இதுதான் கப்பலின் சேதத்திற்குக் காரணமாகி விட்டது.

இதற்கு ஆதாரமாக கப்பலைக் கட்டிய நிறுவனம் வைத்துள்ள ஆவணங்களிலேயே போதுமான தகவல்கள் உள்ளன. தரமற்ற ரிவிட்டுக்களை டைட்டானிக் கப்பலைக் கட்டிய நிறுவனம் நாட முக்கிய காரணம், அதேசமயத்தில் டைட்டானிக் தவிர ஒலிம்பிக் மற்றும் பிரிட்டானிக் என இரு பெரும் கப்பல்களையும் அவர்கள் கட்டித் தர வேண்டியிருந்தது.

ஒரே சமயத்தில் மூன்று கப்பல்களைக் கட்ட வேண்டியிருந்ததால் அவசர அவசரமாக வேலையை முடிக்க வேண்டிய கட்டாயம் கப்பல் கட்டும் நிறுவனத்திற்கு இருந்தது. இதனால்தான் கிடைத்த ரிவிட்டுகளை வைத்து டைட்டானிக்கைக் கட்டியுள்ளனர்.

ஆனால் அந்த நிறுவனத்தின் பழைய ஆவணங்களில் இதுகுறித்து தெளிவான தகவல்கள் இடம் பெற்றுள்ளன.

இதுகுறித்து ஜான்ஸ் ஹாப்கின்ஸ் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் டைட்டானிக் ரிவிட் குறித்த ஆய்வறிக்கையை தாக்கல் செய்தவரான ஜெனீபர் ஹூப்பர் மெக்கார்தி கூறுகையில், டைட்டானிக் கப்பலைக் கட்டியபோது அதன் குழுவினருக்கு பெரும் குழப்பம் இருந்தது. தரமான ரிவிட்டுகள் கிடைக்கவில்லை என்ற கவலைதான் அது.

இதுதொடர்பாக அந்தக் குழுவினர் நடத்திய ஒவ்வொரு கூட்டத்திலும் இதுகுறித்து விவாதித்துள்ளனர். மேலும் ரிவிட்டுகளைப் பொருத்துவதற்கு சரியான ஆட்கள் கிடைக்கவில்லை என்ற பிரச்சினையும் அப்போது இருந்துள்ளது.

1911ம் ஆண்டின் பிற்பகுதியிலிருந்து 1912ம் ஆண்டு ஏப்ரல் மாதம் வரை (அதாவது கப்பல் கட்டி முடிக்கப்படும் வரை) இந்தப் பிரச்சினை இருந்துள்ளது.

இரும்பு ரிவிட்டுக்களுக்குப் பற்றாக்குறை நிலவியதால் அதற்குப் பதில் ஸ்டீல் ரிவிட்டுக்களைப் பயன்படுத்த தீர்மானிக்கப்பட்டது. இரும்பை விட ஸ்டீல் ரிவிட்டுகள் பலமானவை, உறுதியானவை.

இதையடுத்து கப்பலின் மையப் பகுதியில், ஸ்டீல் ரிவிட்டுக்களைப் பயன்படுத்தியுள்ளனர். ஆனால் கப்பலின் அடிப்பாகத்திலும், பிற பகுதிகளிலும் இரும்பு ரிவிட்டுக்களைப் பயன்படுத்தியுள்ளனர்.

ஆனால் சோதனையாக, அதன் இரும்பு ரிவிட்டுகள் பொருத்தப்பட்ட பகுதியில்தான் பனிப்பாறை மோதியது. இதனால் கப்பல் உடைந்து, கடல் நீர் வெள்ளமென உள்ளே புக நேரிட்டது.

கப்பலில் ஆறு இடங்களில் பெரும் ஓட்டை ஏற்பட்டு கடல் நீர் உள்ளே புகுந்தது என்று ஆய்வுகள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.

1912ம் ஆண்டு ஏப்ரல் 14ம் தேதி நள்ளிரவு 11.40 மணிக்கு கப்பல் பனிப்பாறையில் மோதியது. அதன் பின்னர் இரண்டரை மணி நேரத்தில் அந்த மாபெரும் கப்பல் முற்றிலும் நீரில் மூழ்கிப் போய் விட்டது என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

ATV Jules Verne Docks with Station

The Jules Verne, the first European Space Agency Automated Transfer Vehicle, docked to the aft port of the International Space Station's Zvezda Service Module at 10:45 a.m. EDT Thursday.

The unpiloted cargo spacecraft carries more than 7,500 pounds of equipment, supplies, water, fuel and gases for the station.

It also carries hopes and aspirations of the European Space Agency. The ATV and its advanced rendezvous system could play an important role in future space exploration.

The Jules Verne docked smoothly using its automated, laser guided rendezvous system. It was in many respects a repeat of the dry run on Monday. That practice approach brought the ATV to within 36 feet of the docking port.

The Jules Verne launched from Kourou, French Guiana, on an Ariane 5 rocket on March 9.

Solar arrays deployed as planned after two engine firings more than an hour and a half after launch. That placed the ATV in a parking orbit about 1,200 miles from the station.

It was, at almost 22 tons, the largest payload ever launched by the Ariane 5.

The Jules Verne is named after the acclaimed French science-fiction author. It is the first of perhaps seven such spacecraft to be built.

The ATV can carry about three times the cargo weight carried by the Progress, the reliable Russian unpiloted cargo carrier.

The Jules Verne initially was placed in an orbit a safe distance from the station, where a series of tests were performed. Among the last of the tests were two approaches to the station.

Those approaches ended in "escape" maneuvers, to verify a collision avoidance system. It would be used if the ATV automated docking system should fail.

The spacecraft is scheduled to remain at the station until August, for unloading and to reboost the orbiting laboratory. Subsequently it will be filled with station garbage and discards. Then it will be deorbited for destruction on re-entry over the Pacific.
